Introduction to Chord Melody on Ukulele with Marcy A. Marxer

Chord melody is a style of playing that turns a melody into a singing series of chords. It’s a fun style for playing solo, making one person sound like a full band, or for working with ensembles. As a technique that players can learn and apply to many kinds of music, chord melody builds a deeper relationship between players and their instruments.

MARCY MARXER is a multi-instrumentalist, studio musician, performer, songwriter and producer with 40 years of experience and a shelf of impressive awards. Her GRAMMY Awards say “Artist, Engineer, Producer” and she is top notch at all three of those roles. Her studio engineering has graced GRAMMY award winning projects and countless indie recordings through the years.

Marcy is co-director of UKEFEST at the Music Center at Strathmore and has pioneered Ukulele programs at The Swannanoa Gathering, Steve Kaufman’s Acoustic Kamp and the American Music Therapy Association. The Gold Tone company hired Marcy to make demo videos on 48 of their eclectic instruments.

She teaches Ukulele at www.pegheadnation.com and has multiple Uke courses at www.Truefire.com and www.Homespun.com. Fun lovin’ gal of all stringed instruments! Marcy even took lessons from the vaudeville string wizard, Roy Smeck. www.cathymarcy.com
