Everyone is creative. Everyone has a voice that should be heard. Join Clarice Assad, Brazilian-American composer, vocalist, and pianist for this special workshop. VOXPLORATION is Clarice Assad's award winning research-based workshop on spontaneous music creation and improvisation, where participants use solely the voice and the body as an instrument. Students will participate in improvisational exercises and games that encourage freedom of expression. Come explore all of the unique and creative ways that we can make music together.
This workshop is intended for participants who want to improve their communicational skills by learning different forms of engagement
and connection through both verbal and non-verbal communication. We use elements of language, movement, theater and nothing but our own bodies.
"VOX" has received awards from Brazilian foundations such as CAIXA CULTURAL and SESC, as well as American grants from New Music USA and the McKnight Foundation. It has traveled to Brazil, Qatar, Europe and has been taught extensively in the United States, creating ripples of positive and lasting effects in many young and adult people's lives.
Open to all.
