Children will explore the world of music--each week, singing, dancing and playing percussion instruments such as rhythm sticks, hand drums, tambourines, ukuleles, triangles and more! We emphasize singing games and open-ended exploration to build emerging music literacy skills. Your teacher will lead the group in a discovery of music concepts such as melody, dynamics, tempo, beat, and rhythm while introducing special “big kid” instruments and songs and discovering the unique qualities of percussion, string, and wind instruments.
This is a preschool class in which children are expected to follow directions and collaborating as a group. The class works together to learn turn-taking, call and response singing, and beat and rhythm games. The attending grownup must be able to support the older child in their work and play. Younger siblings may sometimes be allowed to register for the class. For the best class experience, we recommend registered younger siblings are 6 months to 1 year (non-walkers) or 2 years, 6 months - 3 years (able to follow directions and model after their older sibling).
