Learn to play comfortably in a small jazz combo (5-10 instruments). Learn tunes from styles like be-bop, hard bop, jazz-rock (fusion), swing, Latin jazz and new trad. Practice improvising and soloing over many styles and changes, and then show off your chops in a final performance. You should be familiar with basic jazz theory and able to read music.
Beginning Music Theory or ability to construct major, minor and 7th chords and read melodies and chord changes for your instrument. Sight reading is not required.
For all instruments. Bring your own equipment (practice amp, snare and cymbals, etc.).
