Old Town School Happenings
Old Town School Turns 60!
The Old Town School of Folk Music opened in December of 1957 with our first home at 333 North Avenue. Now in our 60th year, with campuses in Lincoln Square and Lincoln Park, we’re still celebrating music and the culture of diverse American and global communities. December 1, 2017 marked Old Town School of Folk Music’s official 60th anniversary, and with that came a series of events celebrating this momentous milestone.
Friday, December 1
- Special 60th First Friday at our Armitage location. The evening featured: a classic jam session with Mark Dvorak, ensemble performances, a pop-up choir, Socials which highlighted the music of each decade, and a celebration of 60 years of women in music, just to name a few.
Saturday, December 2
- Teen Open Mic and The Saturday Jam session, both at Armitage.
Sunday, December 3
- Old Town School at 60, a celebratory concert featuring some the School’s favorite teaching artists was performed in Maurer Hall to a packed audience. The concert highlighted 60 years of music at Old Town School.
