A fun learning atmosphere for those 11-17 who were born to rock.

Group Classes

In all Old Town School teen group classes, students learn together in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Classes are scheduled during after-school and weekend hours, and most classes meet once a week for 60 minutes. All classes are taught by experienced Old Town School faculty.

Guitar classes loosely reflect Old Town School’s wildly popular Core Guitar curriculum. Our range of Teen Ensembles (Metal, Alternative, Classic Rock, Girls Rock, etc.) are a great opportunity for teens to get hands-on experience playing with new friends. The Teen Musical Theater Ensemble is for anyone interested in taking the stage with scenes and songs from the contemporary Broadway repertoire.

As with all Old Town School classes, all teen classes are open to anyone who wishes to participate.

Teen Open Mic Night

Due to increased demand for safe and separate nighttime teen activities, we created our monthly Teen Open Mic. Teen Open Mic (usually) occurs on the first Saturday of every month at our 909 West Armitage location, and functions as a monthly opportunity for young Chicago area bands, singer-songwriters and vocalists to perform for their peers.

The Open Mic draws participants from local schools such as Lincoln Park High, the Latin School and Pritzker School. Performers also travel in from Evanston and even as far as Lake Zurich and Indiana. The Open Mic serves as a point of entry for teens to interact with fellow teen musicians and the Old Town School community.
