The 4-string tenor banjo has a long history in Irish traditional music. While it shares the G-D-A-E tuning with fiddle and mandolin, the technique and repertoire are quite different from American musical forms such as Bluegrass and Old Time. This class is designed for intermediate players on tenor banjo, but mandolins and 5-string banjos are permissible. We'll go over right hand techniques and learn some common tunes.
