This session is for musicians that express interest in learning more about Arabic musical styles. Students are instructed with the goal of preparing them to be able to perform these musical styles on their own instruments. Observation of Arabic modes or scales (maqamat) and Arabic rhythms (iqat) are included along with learning some specific song forms. Don’t miss this unique opportunity to study with one of the greatest interpreters of the genre in the world, and the founder of Arabic Music Retreat which has been held for 20+ years at Mt. Holyoke College.
