Learn the secret of afrobeat with master drummer, Tony Allen. Regarded by Brian Eno as perhaps "the greatest drummer who ever lived," Allen will get behind the drum kit and break down the fundamentals of afrobeat drumming. He talks not just about the rhythms of afrobeat, but also how afrobeat drums interplay with the bass, guitar, keyboards, and horns in an afrobeat ensemble.

The class is for music students and professional musicians as well as music enthusiasts. Students of drums, bass, and guitar are welcome to bring their instruments as some will be selected to work with Tony on stage. The workshop explores afrobeat through a hands-on experience. In addition worldwide recognition for his music, Allen leads master classes around the world in which he shares his knowledge about music, music cognition, the concepts of rhythm, time and breath. The master class explores his techniques developed throughout the years and includes audience participation. The workshop culminates with students performing a new afrobeat track written on the spot.
