Glenn will demonstrate his disparate approaches to composition. This discussion will include his approach to writing for classical groups (Kronos Quartet, eighth blackbird, Bang on A Can, Maya Beiser, and Jeff Zeigler), percussion groups (So Percussion and Third Coast Percussion), and his own solo percussion works. Glenn will also demonstrate how he incorporates extended techniques on various percussion instruments to create new sounds for his pieces. A Q&A will follow his conversation - some familiarity with music composition is suggested.
