Kids’ Group Guitar
Music has been an integral part of Stephen Kuhn's life since he started playing piano at age 5. He picked up the guitar at age 10 after hearing a Jimi Hendrix record at a family party, and has since spent over twenty years honing his craft on the instrument. In 2023 he obtained a masters degree in jazz performance from DePaul university under the tutelage of Scott Hesse, Bob Palmieri, Sharel Cassity, and Dana Hall. Stephen uses his experience in styles of jazz, rock, funk, country, blues, metal, and pop to reach all preferred styles and passions of his students. Beyond teaching at Old Town School of Folk Music, Stephen can be seen playing various jazz and rock clubs around Chicago. He holds a residency at the Woodlawn Tap in Hyde Park; a weekly jazz performance that has been operating every Sunday since 1990.
