Anniela Huidobro Castro (she/her) is a dance artist and educator based in Chicago. Originally from Mexico, she holds a Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences from the Autonomous University of the State of Morelos and a Bachelor's degree in Contemporary Dance from the Professional School of Dance of Mazatlán. With over 10 years of professional experience, she has performed at festivals and in artistic projects across Latin America—including Brazil, Chile, Guatemala, Panama, and Colombia—as well as at numerous festivals throughout Mexico. In the United States, her work has been presented at the Newport Dance Festival (2023, 2025), RADFest (2025–2026), Chicago Dance Month (2025), and other festivals. Most recently, she was an Artist in Residence at the Chicago Cultural Center and received support from the Chicago Dancemakers Forum through its Dance Project Grants program.
An experienced and versatile teaching artist, Anniela has taught at the University of Chicago, Urban Gateways, After School Matters, and with organizations across Latin America, working with students ranging from young children to older adults. Her background in somatic movement informs a teaching style that emphasizes body awareness, breath, and community—the same qualities she brings to her Yoga and Zumba classes at Old Town School of Folk Music.
We're excited to welcome Anniela to our faculty as a Yoga and Zumba instructor!
