Teachers at the Old Town School

Thomas Winthrop Stevens

Styles - Jazz, Standards, Classical, Ragtime, Composition, Improvisation and Blues Licks and Forms

Tom’s lifelong acquisition of musical knowledge and skill is a resource at the student’s disposal. He likes to work with students to determine their goals and help them to achieve those goals.

Each student is an individual, so he does not use stock methods for all of his students, but designs a unique course of study tailored to that particular student's needs.

He has considerable experience working with a broad range of students, from beginners from age 6 to 60 (and older) embarking on a new hobby, to aspiring professionals entering college music programs or planning performance careers.

Tom is an experienced composer and performing pianist. He is a co-producer of the Chicago Soundings concert series, a recipient of A CAPP award for emerging artists, and a recipient of the Old Town School Commissioning Award.

He has released three CDs on the Wynieu Music label, all of which have received airplay on radio stations throughout the US.
