Fiddle
Irish, Bluegrass, Old Time
My goal as an educator is to help students learn to love playing music. I believe music’s power is in its ability to foster community and bring joy to those playing and listening. I meet my students where they’re at, help find what makes them passionate about making music, and run with it. While my focus as a fiddler is in Irish, Bluegrass, and Old Time styles, I’ve worked with my students on everything from Rage Against the Machine to Bad Bunny and am always happy to learn new things with my students.
After growing up studying Irish fiddle with Randal Bays and Bluegrass with Elaina DelRossi, I spent years performing in string bands around the east coast before moving to Chicago to attend grad school. When I’m not fiddling, I’m a sound artist and experimental instrument builder. I received a BA in Music Composition from Bennington College and an MFA in Sound from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I was awarded the Alba Sonic Arts Residency at Experimental Sound Studio.
