Nikki O’Neill

Guitar

Nikki O’Neill is a guitarist, singer, and songwriter, deeply influenced by Soul music, Rock
and Americana, and all about playing for the song.

Nikki genuinely loves to teach and to make music a part of people’s lives. Students have described her teaching as encouraging; skilled and intuitive; breaking things down in a way that really works, and easy to understand from playing to theory.

She’s an active recording/performing artist and bandleader, signed to Blackbird Record
Label. Her critically acclaimed third album, Stories I Only Tell My Friends, features
eleven songs written by her and it was supported by the Illinois Arts Council.

Nikki has taught private lessons, group guitar classes at New School University in New
York, workshops with NAMM, and after-school programs. She’s also taught video
lessons on YouTube, had a lesson channel on TrueFire.com, and been a guest clinician
at an all-female rock music college in Sweden.

She’s the author of the instruction book, Women’s Road to Rock Guitar (Alfred Music),
and a freelance writer for Guitar Player Magazine.

Nikki graduated with a Bachelor’s degree from New School University, majoring in music performance. She also majored in guitar at two full-time music programs in Stockholm, Sweden (Kulturama, Sodra Latins musiklinje). Nikki has studied privately with Adam Levy (Norah Jones), Dustin Barber (Al Green), and Vadim Zilbershtein (Earth, Wind & Fire).
