Marshall Greenhouse has been teaching at the Old Town School of Folk Music since 1999, sharing his passion for rhythm, percussion, and music-making with students of all ages. Over the years, he has taught private drumset and percussion lessons, Little Drummers classes and Kids Piano. He also offers handpan workshops and private handpan lessons, bringing his experience as a performer and percussionist into the classroom.
A lifelong musician and educator, Marshall has built a diverse career as a percussionist, bandleader, and producer. He was a founding member of the Chicago Afrobeat Project and currently leads AfroZep, a project that reimagines the music of Led Zeppelin through African musical influences and rhythms. He also performs electronic music with Chromabeats, Psych Rock with KAVA, Rock and Blues with Rebecca's Statue, and creates and performs solo as MANCHOsounds, exploring handpan, percussion, electronic music, global grooves, and ambient soundscapes.
His work as an educator and performer reflects a deep interest in rhythm, global musical traditions and improvisation. Through private lessons, group classes, workshops, and performances, Marshall encourages students to develop both their musical skills and their own unique creative voice.
