Charlie Mejías Cuban singer, sonero, trovador, and music producer. Born and raised in the heart of Afro-Cuban music, Charlie Mejías carries the true essence of Cuba in his voice and soul. From a very young age, he stood out composing songs and performing at festivals, developing a style deeply rooted in authentic Cuban traditions. His main influences include legends such as Benny Moré, Los Van Van, and La Charanga Habanera, the foundational pillars that have shaped his vibrant salsa, sonero, and trova sound. Throughout his career, he has been a member of prominent Cuban salsa and son groups, including Trío Los Guaracheros, Puro Son, and Clave Cubana. His most cherished and enduring project is the duo he shares with guitarist and longtime partner Norberto Guerra, with whom he has performed for over 10 years across various venues and ensembles in Cuba and abroad, delivering a refined repertoire that blends classic Cuban son, lively salsa, and heartfelt romantic boleros. As a music producer, Charlie thrives in the creative process of the studio, where he has collaborated and recorded with renowned artists such as Alexander Abreu and Mayito Rivera, among other leading figures in the genre. Now based in the United States, he continues to bring the genuine flavor of Cuba to the world through live performances, original productions, and his unmistakable salsero voice. Pure Cuban sabor, straight from the heart!
