“Sometimes you gotta write the songs you need to hear,” musician, actor and author Lola Kirke says of the title track of her new album Trailblazer. “The culture a lot of us are living in is designed to make you feel like you're failing. That you're headed in the wrong direction if you're not consuming and conforming. It's easy for me to forget that. So I wrote a song to remind me.”

Such is the affirmation that begins Kirke's third full length LP - a singular blend of classic country tropes and ethereal sonic landscapes: “when you feel like a failure, baby you're a trailblazer.” Released on the heels of her debut book, a memoir-in-essays entitled Wild West Village (Simon and Schuster 2025) chronicling her dysfunctional upbringing in London and New York City, the highs and lows of her career as an actress in Hollywood and her unusual path to Nashville and country music, it's safe to say: Kirke's trailblazing ability isn't so murky. In fact, it's dazzlingly clear.

Storey Littleton + Calder The Destroyer

Storey Littleton and Calder Mansfield initially bonded at the age of 13 over their shared love of Kate Bush, the Roches, Prince and Buffy The Vampire Slayer— and they've been musical collaborators ever since. Together, they've provided background vocals and instrumental accompaniment to artists such as Leon Bridges, Lola Kirke, Kate Pierson, Amy Helm and Rhett Miller. Currently, Storey and Calder live in New York City and play guitar in each other's solo projects. Both are releasing their debut albums in 2026.

Storey Littleton is a songwriter from Woodstock NY. Her first album “At a Diner” will be released February 2026 on Don Giovanni Records. Inspired by the likes of Judee Sill, Liz Phair, and Kacey Musgraves, Storey's feathery vocals blend the melodies of pop with the pang of folk, at once gentle and all-consuming. The album features moments of restraint and rupture: intricate finger-picked melodies give way to electric guitar rumbles and wails alongside the humor, drama and catchiness of 60's girl group pop. Her other musical projects include fronting the band M0NOGAMY alongside Livia Reiner and Matthew Danger Lippman, and playing guitar and keys for Ida, Lola Kirke, Calder The Destroyer, Luella and The Hedons.

Calder the Destroyer is the alias of Calder Mansfield, a 25-year-old singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Manhattan. Born and raised outside of Woodstock in Phoenicia, NY, Mansfield has been performing and playing music professionally since she was 16. Mixing the glorious vulgarity of PJ Harvey's guitar rock with the melodic precision of Elliott Smith, she has a keen ability to excavate the gems of her musical education and make them shine in a new context. Within a single lyric she can be both amusing and achingly transparent, captivating the listener not only through her familiar-yet-fresh compositions and explosive voice, but in the warmth of her personality. In addition to her own project, Mansfield contributes bass and/or vocals for artists including Dogs on Shady Lane, Lola Kirke, Star 80, and her childhood best-friend Storey Littleton.
