Maxwell Street Klezmer Band has played at Carnegie Hall, toured Europe, and has provided the soundtrack for Chicagoland's Jewish celebrations for over four decades. Founded by vocalist Lori Lippitz and directed by violinist Alex Koffman, the band melds classical and jazz sensibilities into a unique sound that moves and inspires audiences of all ages. Locally, Maxwell Street has played with Lyric Opera of Chicago, Chicago Sinfonietta at Symphony Center, and at the Goodman Theater. In 2023, they marked their 40th “Bandiversary” with two sold-out shows at The Old Town School of Folk Music - the event was recorded as an album that will be released this year. This concert features four vocalists including Cantor Pavel Roytman.
