Wayco Andes

Wayco Andes, translated in English as Andean Avalanche, is a musical duo that play traditional music from the Andean region of South America which encompasses Bolivia, Peru and Ecuador. You will hear melodies played on pre columbian Inca instruments such as the Zampoña (pan flute) and the quena (Andean flute). Also featured are the Charango (nylon stringed armadillo shelled instrument indigenousness to the Andean region) and the classical guitar brought to the Americas by Spanish colonizers. These instruments all come together to produce unique and beautiful sounds masterfully played by Hugo Gutierrez and Armando Backle.

The show is an hour long bilingual Spanish/English presentation that takes a deep dive on how the instruments are made and will demonstrate why Andean music is so popular around the world.
