An Eid Celebration with Hamza Akram Qawwal & Brothers performing the South Asian tradition of Qawwali (Devotional Sufi Music).

Hamza Akram Qawwal & Brothers, grandsons of the revered Munshi Raziuddin Qawwal, have been acclaimed for their riveting interpretations of qawwali. This award-winning ensemble represents the 26th generation of the seven centuries-old Qawwal Bachon ka Gharana of Delhi founded by Saamat bin Ibrahim, the first qawwal of the subcontinent and principal student of mystic Amir Khusrau. Based in Pakistan, Hamza has studied with the renowned Ustad Naseeruddin Saami, as well as with his uncle, Ustad Farid Ayaz Qawwal. He and his brothers - Taimoor and Abdul - have toured various countries and performed at many festivals. The ensemble performs songs that range from the classical Persian and Brij Bhasha poems to contemporary Punjabi and Urdu poetry.
