This presentation examines songs that addressed the issues of a tumultuous era. The Civil Rights movement and the War in Vietnam inspired protest music that was both popular and inspirational. Songs by Bob Dylan, Phil Ochs, Nina Simone, John Lennon, Marvin Gaye and others will be shared and discussed, spanning the folk boom of the ‘50s through the late ‘60s.
