Chéjere aims to create original music by combining different expressions of “Mexican son” and the rhythms of many other genres of world music in order to show a contemporary aspect of traditional music. They adhere to tradition but enrich it and add new instrumentation to create a new sound and give the music an identity of its own.
Creating this new contemporary Mexican music has been Chéjere's goal since its inception in 1996. The group has recorded 4 albums and has toured to many countries around the world including the US, China, Japan and Cuba.
