The Bridge, a transatlantic network for jazz and creative music connecting artists between France and Chicago, is dedicated to presenting original ensembles of musicians who explore new creative directions.
This season's Bridge ensemble features:

Rob Frye - woodwinds, percussion
JayVe Montgomery - woodwinds, electronics
Simon Sieger - accordion, tuba, trombone
Dan Bitney - drums, electronics
Labor songs, lullabies, frame drum songs, carols, naughty songs, nursery rhymes, and even tavern songs, Tornaveus conjure a surround sound created exclusively with voices. Vocal music has always been a rich, local tradition among men and women in the Northwestern Mediterranean region, and Tornaveus are some of the finest purveyors of the form.

It is usual, in popular form of music of the 20th and 21st century, from jazz to rock or reggae, to label the drummer and bassist of a group as the rhythm section. Dan Bitney and Olivia Scemama of The Bridge will recount in sounds, words, and gestures the thousand metamorphoses of this crucial part of any orchestra.

French multi-instrumentalist Simon Sieger of The Bridge will give a hands on workshop using the diatonic accordion to explore traditional Balkan music, jazz, and more with special emphasis on the world of improvisation.
