50th Anniversary Tour

4544 N Lincoln Ave · Gary and Laura Maurer Concert Hall · 773.728.6000

Currently led by N'Yoka Longo, Zaiko Langa Langa are a seminal contemporary Congolese band from the Democratic Republic of Congo. Their music and creativity has influenced Congolese and African music like no other band. Voted and crowned the band of the century in DR Congo, Zaiko remain one of the most influential bands in the history of African music.

Founded in the early 1969 by D.V. Moanda, Marcelin Delo, Henry Mongombe, Olemi Eshar-Eshar dem'belina and Andre Bita, Zaiko Langa Langa survived into the 2000s, and remained popular to the present day. Because of their "rebel" and "hippie" attitude, and their innovative approach to soukous, they became a symbol of the new generations of post-independence Zaire, and are sometimes compared to the Rolling Stones for their appeal on the Congolese youth.

In 2000, Zaiko Langa Langa was awarded the Best Congolese Musical Group of the 20th Century by the Congolese Media Association.

Currently led by N'Yoka Longo, Zaiko Langa Langa is a 20-piece band on tour in the US and Canada for the first time in 20 years.
