IB Global Spotlight: Latin America
Grades Pre-K - 3

Celebrate Día del Niño-Children's Day with Jarochicanos. Throughout Latin America and communities in the US, Children's Day focuses on the joy of play and learning, identity and children's rights. This colorful, interactive, bilingual concert includes traditional and contemporary children's songs and lively participation through movement, singing and dance.

(Jarochicanos began in 2008 as children and youth gathering to learn the music and culture of the centuries-old son jarocho tradition of southern Veracruz, Mexico. Like the son, La Bamba, jarocho is rooted in handmade acoustic instruments, call and response lyrics and the energetic zapateado foot-tapping on the tarima wooden platform, reflecting the region's history of mestizaje between its Indigenous, Spanish and African cultures.)
