Whether you're already part of our talented community of musicians and artists or are just getting ready to start your Old Town School adventure, we cordially invite you to join us Behind The Screens! This online community appreciation night has something for all ages and skill levels, along with plenty of fun for you to enjoy from your own home. Browse the schedule below to find the event that is interesting to you!

If you're new to Old Town School or looking to try something new, consider stopping by one of our Q&A sessions to learn more about our programming. We'll give you a brief overview of the program, how our online classes work, and answer all your questions. We can even listen to you play and suggest the right class based on your skill level. There's no such thing as a silly question - we're here to help get you on the right musical or dance path!

Public Town Hall Meeting

Join CEO Jim Newcomb along with Old Town School of Folk Music administrators and teachers for a public town hall meeting to keep our community informed about the happenings at Old Town School this fall.

Wiggleworms with Karen Banks-Lubicz

Introduce your child to the world of music with Old Town School of Folk Music's Wiggleworms®, the perfect place to connect to music and make new friends. This sample class is best for families with children age 5 and under.

Who’s ready for a Friday night dance party? Join us as we wiggle, jump, roll, and play in a movement class for children and parents together.

Curious about our Kids Music program? We’ll do a brief overview of our programs and answer any questions you may have about classes.

Introduce your child to the world of bilingual music with Old Town School of Folk Music's ¡Hola! Wiggleworms®, the perfect place to connect to music and make new friends. This sample class is best for families with children age 5 and under.

Kids Dance Q & A for parents

Want to learn more about our kids dance program? Join us as we give a brief overview of the program and answer questions you may have about the program and where to start your dancers.

Adult Group Class Consultation

Join two of our program managers as they field questions about classes and help you place into the right level or section. Cat Tager and Jimmy Tomasello collectively hold decades of experience with the School and it's rich programming. We’ll be able to have you play privately if you choose and we’ll make recommendations.

Introduction to Ukulele with Liz Chidester

Get started with the 'ukulele by learning basic chords and strums at a pace designed for first-time players. The uke is a popular choice for students who have never picked up an instrument before. You’ll be surprised by how soon you're playing songs while picking up core musical skills.

Adult String Band Q&A

Join some of our string band teachers to learn more about our instrument specific and string band ensemble classes. Are you interested in learning banjo, fiddle, or mandolin? Maybe you want to improve on what you already know. Maybe it's time to start learning how to play with other musicians in a string band format. Come get your questions answered, learn how our teachers teach lead classes, and enjoy some playing from string band teachers and students!

Adult Virtual Open Mic

Want to highlight some of the great music you have been learning in Old Town School classes? Ready to perform for other members of the Old Town School community? Now is your chance! Join us for a Virtual Open Mic! Students and community members are invited to perform one song.

Songbook Sing-along

Join veteran teachers Steve Levitt, Mary Peterson, and Jimmy Tomasello as they conduct a virtual second half with songs from our songbook. Charts will be posted so participants can sing or play along or both. We will encourage requests from various editions of the Old Town School Songbook.

Songwriter's Circle

Come observe our weekly Songwriter's Circle hosted by Dan Connolly. Each Friday, folks get together in a welcoming environment to share and critique each others' work. See how it's done, and find out more about our songwriting classes and workshop opportunities.
