2-week Day Camps for Kids 6-11

Get ready to rock this summer with Old Town School Summer Camp, an unforgettable adventure for 6 to 11-year old creative kiddos! This summer, we’re turning up the volume on fun, with music, dance, theater, and comedy classes from the largest community school of the arts in the country!

Campers will design a custom schedule from a large selection of group classes along with other amazing activities throughout the camp session ending with a grand finale showcase on stage for friends and family!

All About Summer Camp

Two sessions of Old Town School Summer Camp will be available for kids ages 6-11:

Summer Camp is at the Old Town School of Folk Music Lincoln Square campus. Each session has a maximum capacity of 100 campers.

Old Town School Summer Camp is a true community experience, beginning each day with games, activities, and creative experiences. Campers will then break out for small group classes throughout the day.

  • Summer Strummers - Learn some awesome tunes on acoustic guitar! Campers will learn everything from how to hold and tune a guitar to playing full songs.
  • Uke Unleashed - Unleash the magic of the small but mighty ukulele! Campers will learn tuning, skills, and learn to play songs with strumming and chords.
  • Beats and Grooves - Learn to make beats and grooves using Garage Band software!
  • The Drum Kit - Learn to play beats and grooves on the drum set!
  • Drumbeat Collective - Explore the wide world of percussion instruments and rhythmic music.
  • Broadway Bound - Be part of the Old Town School Summer Camp musical theater experience! (please note: this class runs 2 class periods)
  • Hip Hop Dance - Get your groove on in Hip Hop Dance!
  • Breakdancing - The original urban street dance!
  • Creative Movers - Calling all young movers and shakers! Dance into a world of imagination and expression!
  • Glee Club - Exercise your voice and musical passion in Glee Club!
  • Songwriting - Do you have lyrics or a melody in your head? This class is for you.
  • Laugh Lab - Calling all comedians to the stage!

Pricing:

$695 ($640 for members) per session. Camp runs for 2-weeks and campers must enroll in both weeks of the session.

Extended Hours: Early Drop-Off and Late Pickup

Extended hours begin before camp at 7:30am and extend after camp until 5:30pm. Extended Hours are available to purchase at registration or at anytime.

$200 per session, per camper ($185 for members)

Full refunds are available until four weeks before the start of each camp session. No refunds will be available after this deadline. Extended Hours fees are non-refundable.

Who can attend the camp?

Children ages 6 to 11.

Where does the camp take place?

At our Lincoln Square campus located at 4545 N. Lincoln Ave. in Chicago.

What is our camp refund policy?

Full refunds will be provided one month before the start of your selected camp session. No refunds will be available after this deadline. Extended Hours fees are non-refundable.

Do we offer a payment plan?

Yes. If you wish you can pay half of your tuition upon initial registration. The second and final payment will be due no later than four weeks before the start of the session.

Do we offer financial aid?

What kind of medical and emergency information do you need for my camper?

All campers will get a camper information & help form to provide information for allergies, and any medications or special considerations. To discuss other specific concerns please email lderosia@oldtownschool.org

Does my child need to bring their own lunch?

Yes. Old Town School Summer camp is a “Bring Your Own Lunch” camp. Bring lunch and a refillable water bottle. Please note, Old Town School Summer Camp is nut-free.

What if I’m going to miss some​​ days of camp?

Please call to let us know as you will be missed. We do not prorate tuition or offer make ups for absences.

Can I enroll for part of the camp?

No. Campers must enroll for the entire duration of the camp.

What ability level is necessary for my child to participate?

Camp is open to all levels and abilities. Teachers will work with campers to make sure they are challenged and have fun.

Do I have to bring an instrument?

All instruments will be provided for campers. This includes guitars, ukuleles, drum and percussion instruments, and computers for Beats and Grooves. Instruments are for in camp use only. If you would like to bring an instrument home, you can rent or purchase an instrument through our music store.

What clothing should campers wear at camp and in dance classes?

Campers are encouraged to dress comfortably and appropriately for movement and dance classes: such as joggers or leggings. Bathrooms are available to change.

When is the camp showcase?

The end of camp showcase will take place on Thursday evening of week two, time TBD. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Can my child take a class more than once?

No. We want to ensure all campers have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities. For this reason, campers are required to vary their classes.

What is the camp to counselor ratio?

Campers will be divided into squads of 10. Each squad will be overseen by a camp counselor throughout the day, in addition to a teacher during classes.

Can my camper enroll in a half day of camp?

No. We do not offer half day options.

What should my campers bring to camp?

A lunch, water bottle, string bag or backpack, and sunscreen.

Can I send treats with my camper to share with other campers?

No. We try to be mindful of allergy and dietary restrictions.

Can a caregiver visit during camp?

Yes. Please call ahead to let us know.

What are the drop-off and pick up procedures, times, and location?

Counselors will be ready for campers in front of 4545 N. Lincoln Ave. starting at 8:50 am and will wait with campers in the lobby of 4545 N. Lincoln Ave. until 4:10 pm After two late pickups campers will automatically be enrolled in pre and post-camp at a cost of $200.

What are the hours for Extended Hours?

Can I take more than one session of camp?

Yes, campers are welcome to join both the June and July session of camp. Classes will not be different between sessions and campers are encouraged to choose different classes each session.

Can we change classes after registration?

We want every camper to have a great experience in Summer Camp and recognize not every class will be right for your camper! Yes, you will be able to change classes in the first two days of camp, pending availability. If you want to change ahead of time, please reach out to our customer service team for assistance.
