The Song Writer’s Voice with Elizabeth Moen

Adult Group Class / Songwriting Program

This class is for songwriters who want to feel more confident in their writing, for music lovers curious to learn the how and why of songwriting, and for anyone looking to feel inspired! We’ll discuss how to access the personal stories we wish to express and how to turn them into our own songs. We will explore examples of signature voices in the American Songbook such as Bruce Springsteen and Lucinda Williams. Songwriting, like any writing, comes from our responses to the things we witness in life, but it doesn’t have to be bound by “the truth”. We all have a story and a song to share in us! Through free writing, writing prompts, and guided discussion, students will leave with some hands-on experience as well as tools to begin to craft their stories.
