Women Pioneers in Rock & Blues Guitar: Play & Time Travel!

From the birth of the electric guitar to blues, rhythm and blues, classic rock, punk, new wave, “shred,” “grunge,” and today's indie rock — every era has its creative and innovative female guitar pioneers.
We'll get to play and do a little time travel through each era, exploring Memphis Minnie's and Sister Rosetta Tharpe’s cutting blues solos, Jennifer Batten's tapping, Courtney Barnett's infectious riffs, and more.

If time allows, we’ll also do a little 101 on amps, pickups and effects pedals.
For this workshop, it’s good if you’re comfortable playing and switching between basic open chords, and maybe even playing a 4-string F-chord or Dm chord. You’re welcome to bring a small practice amp — even the tiny battery-operated model that you can hang over your belt is perfect. It’s ok to bring an acoustic or electric guitar, but know that it’ll be trickier to play some of the string bends on an acoustic guitar.
