This lyric-focused workshop will include free writing exercises and analysis of poetic lyricists who use creative imagery to evoke emotion: Phoebe Bridgers, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Lucinda Williams, and others. This will be a deep dive into the “show, don’t tell” world of lyric writing. Open to anyone interested in improving their lyric writing or their writing in general. Steve Dawson has been teaching songwriting at the Old Town School for 20 years and has released over a dozen albums of original music as a solo artist and with his band, Dolly Varden.
