Grammy Award winning artist Daniel Ho will teach the song "Colors in Harmony" with ukelele and voice. This simple song is an 8-bar chord progression of only three chords (D, G, and A). The melodies and counterpoint represent different cultures weaving together to create beautiful harmonies. The rhythmic foundation is South African and features percussion from all over the world: the Hawaiian ipuheke, Japanese taiko drums, Chinese opera percussion, udu,and talking drum.
In this class we will learn how to play and sing the song in English and Hawaiian and also play it instrumentally in a chord/melody finger style. Materials will be provided in advance of the workshop.
