It’s never too late to become a piper! Join Join Bruce Beavis, Ben Peterson, and Jeff Beatty, members of the Greater MidWest and Chicago Celtic Pipes and Drums, for a 90-minute introduction to the Great Highland Bagpipe. In the first part of the seminar, we’ll listen to some piping from the recent World Pipe Band Championships in Scotland as well as play a few tunes ourselves. We’ll talk about how piping fits into the world of music and students will have a chance to try out a full set of pipes. In the second part, students will be playing the practice chanter, learning the basic fingerings, and we will have a crack at playing “Amazing Grace” on the chanter.
