Welcome to Cajun Harmonica! Ready to shake up your playing style?

This class dives into world of classic Cajun melodies, the techniques that make them tick, and the accompaniment approaches that let us not only survive, but thrive in jam session settings.

We divide our class time between three things: breaking down famous Cajun melodies into their most basic components and analyzing what makes them such unique classics of the genre; exploring the various techniques that allow us to layer in the harmonies that make Cajun music so distinctive; and the basics of backing Cajun songs so we can stand strong and carry our own weight at jam sessions. This gives us the ability to lead like an accordion, support like a rhythm guitar and have the most fun of anyone in the dance hall!

Our class is “one room school” style, meaning players of all skill levels log on from around the world to learn and thrive together, but we do recommend being quasi proficient with playing single notes via the tongue blocking method in order to get started.
