The Afro-Peruvian cajón is making rounds through flamenco and rock and through Cuba and pretty much all of Latin America. It’s the wooden box with a sound hole. It’s a seat and an instrument. It’s got a wide bass sound like a djembe with a slap as ripe as a conga. Learn the basic technique and fundamental rhythms to bring your portable drum to many different settings. Primary among these will be learning Afro-Peruvian beats and moving your way up to complicated flamenco rhythms.
