Stretching Techniques for Kids

The 90-minute flexibility workshop will take students through a short lecture that touches on proper stretching techniques, stretching to avoid injury, proper warm-up technique, the importance of flexibility for all dance techniques, and the quickest and safest ways to increase flexibility. A vigorous warm up to get blood flowing will be followed by demonstrations of three important ways to stretch (static stretching, resistance stretching, and how to do both of these at home and/or with partners in the studio). Students will have the opportunity to practice correct stretching for a variety of muscle groups. The teacher will work with students as time allows to address specific flexibility goals, and to construct plans to achieve them.
