These styles occupy a lot similar repertoire and many of the tunes are completely interchangeable. Basically they're all folk songs (horses don't sing them as Big Bill Broonzy would say) and you can play them however you like. A great place for clawhammer players to expand their reach is to join bluegrass jams and play tunes like Blue Moon of Kentucky, Foggy Mountain Breakdown, Orange Blossom Special, Swing Low Sweet Chariot. There's a million tunes and they're all waiting for that clawhammer touch. Give it a try.
