Evan Jacobson

Guitar, Kids Ensemble

Evan is a musician and educator with a wide range of interests and skills. Growing up in a very musical family in Oak Park, he started on piano at an early age. Evan then went on to play trombone, guitar, and drum set, eventually leading him to Lawrence University where he earned degrees in education and trombone performance. While at Lawrence, Evan helped to form the reggae/funk/jazz band Fatbook which then went on to win two consecutive awards from Downbeat Magazine as the "College pop/rock/blues band of the year" in 2009 and 2010. His diverse musical interests also led him to Ghana where he spent a summer studying drumming and dancing at the Dagbe Cultural Center. Evan is currently an elementary music teacher in Oak Park. His classes are filled with smiles and laughs as he provides students with a solid base in musicianship, technique, and the joy of music making! You can see him performing all over the Chicago area with the Barehand Jugband (www.barehandjugband.com) and with Fatbook (www.fatbookmusic.com).
