This session (April 27 - June 21) we’ll focus on skills that will help in a jam session or performance situation: memorizing words, internalizing the form, playing without paper or handouts, playing backup behind the vocal, clean kickoffs and endings.
In Bluegrass Ensemble 1, learn the basics of playing and singing for bluegrass. You’ll learn about kick-offs and endings, and what to play behind verses, choruses, and solo breaks in bluegrass songs. You’ll also learn the basics of singing lead and harmony. After taking this class you can take these new techniques and work on them in you core instrument classes and come back for Bluegrass Ensemble 2.
