The cajón is making rounds through flamenco, rock, and all over Latin American. It’s a wooden box percussion instrument with a wide bass sound like a djembe and a slap as ripe as a conga. The ensemble also includes bongos, congas, cowbell, clave, cajita (little box worn around the neck) and the donkey jaw. With these instruments learn basic techniques and fundamental rhythms of Afro-Peruvian and flamenco music.
No experience necessary. This class welcomes both beginners and more advanced players.
Bring your own cajón.
Traiga su propio cajón.
Students are encouraged to bring their own cajón, but they are available in class from the teacher for free for students who don’t have their own.
