Instrumentalists of any instrument are invited to participate in this workshop which will be an introduction to the choro style of Brazilian music. Choro is a musical cousin of "samba" and was first brought to significant international attention by singer Carmen Miranda. Participants in this workshop will be introduced to some of choro's repertoire and performance style through a "roda de choro" - or "choro jam session." Melodic and rhythmical interpretation will be discussed and practiced in the workshop.
