Award-winning bassist and composer Ben Allison will lead an intimate,
hands-on workshop — featuring his group Think Free — which will focus on
how musicians can work together on new music, and craft sounds that are
much more than what’s on the written page.
Think Free features some of New York City’s most creative improvising musicians, including Jeremy Pelt (trumpet), Steve Cardenas (guitar), Allan Mednard (drums). Each band leaders in their own right, these musicians ”think like composers” when they improvise. What exactly does that mean? Come to the workshop with Ben and Think Free and find out.
You are welcome to bring an instrument but it is not required.
