Join Maria McCullough for a workshop in fiddle tunes from the Southwest. In this workshop, students will learn dance tunes from New Mexico and Arizona. The music is a mixture of Native American and European influences. The fiddle tunes will be taught by ear, phrase by phrase. Students will also learn about each tune's source and sing any lyrics and dance steps that are associated with them.
Maria taught for 10 years at the Old Town School of Folk Music and is a co-founder of Carambola Community Music in El Paso with her husband Yahví Pichardo. She is very excited to come back to play music with all of you!
