Mississippi John Hurt, legendary iconic bluesman and influential folk songster passed away 50 years ago on Nov. 2, 1966. To honor his great legacy and to keep his spirit alive, Old Town School bluesmaster, Paul Kaye will present two workshops on his music.
In this workshop participants will learn MJH’s Candyman, a true masterpiece of the American blues/ragtime repertoire in its entirety! This will include the unusual fingerpicking patterns, funky chromatic bass lines, and the complex instrumental break. andyman covers the entire fretboard, from simple open position chords to the 12th fret. But don’t get discouraged! When broken down, one can see how MJH’s arrangement is actually quite playable.
