Introduction to the Violin/Fiddle

$202 ($192 members) · 80 minutes · Weekly for 8 weeks

Get comfortable with the violin, even if you've never played a string instrument before! Beginning with the basic techniques, we'll have you playing a melody before you know it. You’ll first learn how to hold the bow and the violin, and how to tune and properly care for your instrument. This class will also teach basic rhythms, the notes on the violin, and introduce students to common scales (A major and D major). This will lead to playing your first melody on the instrument, and prepare you for Fiddle 1, in which you will learn several simple fiddle tunes.

Prerequisites

No experience necessary. Students with prior experience on the violin, other bowed instruments, or mandolin may consider starting with Fiddle 1.
