Whether you’re recording albums or just writing your first riff, every songwriter returns to the same building blocks to write their next song. In Songwriting: Fundamentals, students grow their understanding of basic harmony, lyric writing, melody, song form, and other tools that are essential to every songwriter. Students will have an opportunity every week to share and hone new material in a supportive environment.

Instrumentalists should be able to play basic 2 and 3-chord songs on a chordal instrument (guitar, piano, `ukulele). Vocalists should be familiar with scales and intervals. Prior songwriting experience is not necessary, just the desire to create!
