Folk Songs: Carrying History Forward

$206 ($196 members) · 80 minutes · Weekly for 8 weeks

We'll study the songs and the people who have influenced and been influenced by old time music, country, folk, blues and bluegrass. While learning the histories of the songs and musicians, we'll work on creating our own arrangements in class. We'll work on learning by ear, not off the paper. In class we'll explore the music of Hazel Dickens, Doc Watson, Mississippi John Hurt, Jean Ritchie and more.
It's a way of learning, not just a song.
