Fiddle traditions around the world are constantly expanding as musicians add new tunes to the mix. Whether inspired by a wedding, funeral, birthday, rainbow, or an uncharacteristic jolt of creativity, a new tune is a rewarding way to interact with tradition. In this class, we'll explore a variety of ways to create instrument fiddle tunes, and we'll listen to and analyze examples of recently composed tunes in the old-time, bluegrass, and Irish traditions.
