A workshop celebrating the bonding powers of the Language of Rhythm: how the instinctively rhythm-driven body and voice can combine to better connect us to the earth we stand on, to our own selves, and to the people with whom we share time and space. We explore the idea of “Full-bodied Rhythm-Making®”: turning the body’s natural gesture-makers — the hands, the head, and the voice — into articulately energized “drumbeaters." We use these drumbeaters to play exuberant “body-music” — to play energy-charged, on-the-beat or off-the-beat rhythms against the “drumheads" of both the floor and all the spaces surrounding us. The goal is to transform the whole person — the moving body, accompanied by the rhythm-singing voice — into a joyously energized, communally sharing, rhythm-making musical instrument.
