Join master guitarist Dennis Cahill to learn, through this series of three workshops, the “big wide concept” of accompaniment, with hands-on approaches to it, using the structure of Irish music rhythm.
Dennis will lead participants through basic music principles that can be adapted immediately by beginners and experienced players alike, utilizing the ideas of breaking chords up, identifying timing and pitch, and listening for shadings and harmonics in tunes.
This philosophical approach to playing guitar will include some tips on (guitar) right-hand techniques to keep things sharp and crisp.
While this workshop is geared toward guitar, harp, piano, and cello players - or any musicians looking to learn about accompaniment - are welcome to join. Dennis uses standard guitar tuning.
